Greece Golden Visa Family Application Planning

A qualifying property and a complete family file are two connected workstreams. Each proposed family member should be mapped to the current legal definition and supported by properly issued, legalised and translated civil-status documents.

Start with a family eligibility map

Before collecting documents, the immigration lawyer should list the principal applicant and every proposed accompanying family member, then confirm the legal basis for each person under the rules in force. The analysis should cover relationship, age, dependency where relevant, custody or consent issues and whether simultaneous or later filing is appropriate.

Do not assume that one family relationship document proves every required fact. Names, dates and transliterations must match passports and application records.

Build the civil-status file early

Typical preparation may involve marriage or partnership records, birth certificates, parental records, custody or consent material, passports, insurance and photographs. The exact list is applicant-specific. Foreign public documents may require an Apostille or consular legalisation and certified translation, depending on issuing country and document type.

Validity periods and issue-date expectations should be checked before ordering replacements. A document prepared too early can expire before the filing window.

Coordinate property and family timing

The property workstream must establish the qualifying acquisition and completed conversion. The family workstream must establish each relationship and personal requirement. A shared closing and filing calendar prevents missing documents, travel constraints or biometric appointments from being discovered after completion.

A proxy may support parts of the process where legally permitted, but personal attendance and biometric requirements should be planned for each applicant.

Keep rights and tax questions separate

A residence card does not automatically answer tax residence, healthcare, school admission, employment or citizenship questions. Those subjects follow different rules and personal facts. Families should obtain separate advice before changing residence, work or tax arrangements.

Use current guidance, not historic checklists alone

The Ministry archive contains useful historic family-document clarifications, including material from 2020. These documents help explain administrative practice but do not replace the current Immigration Code, later decisions or current filing instructions. Counsel should confirm the active requirements for the specific family on the filing date.

Questions to resolve before commitment

Does the property automatically approve every family member?

No. The property and each family member must satisfy their own applicable requirements.

Should family documents be collected before purchase?

Planning should begin early, but issue dates, legalisation and translation timing should follow counsel’s filing calendar.

Can family members file later?

The available sequence depends on the current rules and family circumstances; confirm it with the immigration lawyer.

Does a Golden Visa create automatic tax residence?

No automatic conclusion should be made. Tax residence is a separate analysis based on tax law and personal facts.

Official sources and next steps

This guide uses the current National Registry change-of-use procedure and the Ministry clarification archive. Read these together with the current law and the exact property file.

Eligibility is subject to final legal and technical review. Santheos presents project information and coordinates access to independent professionals; the competent authority decides each residence-permit application.
